Care Earth

About Care Earth

Care earth is an association of Scientists dedicated to bio-diversity research, education and conservation. It was founded in June 2000 and functions with the following objectives

  • To conduct environmental education programmes addressing a wide range of issues such as loss of biodiversity, agricultural ecology and urban ecology.
  • To provide scientific services in the area of biodiversity inventorying and monitoring and in the assessment of human impacts on environment.
  • To provide services in taxonomy.
  • To prepare a range of educational tools, both paper-based and electronic that could be used by school children, college-going youth and teachers.

  • 2000-2002: UNDP/GOI/MoEF: National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan – Western Ghats Ecoregion
  • 2001-2002: UNDP/GOI/MoEF: Inland Wetlands of India – Tamilnadu
  • 2001-2002: Project Lifescape: Freshwater fishes of Peninsular India
  • 2002-2003: Project Lifescape: Amphibians of Peninsular India
  • 2002-2003: Seed Grant of the Declining Amphibian Population Task Force (SSC/IUCN) – Impact of Pesticides on Amphibian Communities in a commercially utilized hill-landscape in the Western Ghats
  • 2002: TN Pollution Control Board – Baseline survey of Biodiversity and Preparation of Action Plan for Conservation of the Pallikarnai Marsh in Chennai
  • 2003: STRI/Centre for Tropical Forest Studies – post doctoral fellowship programme: Forest reserves as refugia for human impacted biodiversity: a case study of the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary
  • 2003: IUCN – Regional Biodiversity Programme, Asia: Biodiversity Planning Specialist – Preparation of guidelines for Sub-national Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans
  • 2002-2006: National Watershed Development Project for Rainfed Areas (NWPRA) – Kancheepuram district
  • 2003: PhD Programme: Ecological Survey of Freshwater Catfishes in and around Chennai, Tamilnadu
